This must be one of the biggest industrial products I've shot in my career. A great challenge to shoot as the images were required for advertising to sell these machines. The challenge for me was the lighting, I never want to pass the buck to the designer to retouch horrible highlights or reflections etc that I could remove with good lighting technique. The final image was a cut out to remove the factory surroundings so even more important to get the lighting on the machine right. Great team effort from all the guys in the BOBST factory, Tony Lomas for art direction plus design and Nicola Ogden in marketing.

For those of you who are interested, its a BOBST K5000 Vacuum Metallizer and if my memory is correct, coats clear film with Aluminium Oxide and is used in food packaging amongst other things. #BOBST #industrialphotography #advertisingphotography
