Portrait of Humanity 2019 Shortlist Honour for Phil Melia

May 13, 2019

“Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that your image has been selected as one of the 200 shortlisted images for Portrait of Humanity. Your shortlisted image will be featured in the Portrait of Humanity book, published by Hoxton Mini Press and distributed worldwide.” Melanie Phillippe - Awards Director

I’m really pleased and proud to have been shortlisted for the 2019 Portrait of Humanity Awards for my image ‘The Quaker’, taken last year in Manchester. To be part of an amazing initiative that celebrates shared values of individuality, community and unity, especially in the current world climate, is an honour that inspires me to seek out more visual storytelling and to continue bearing witness to the world we live in.

Portrait of Humanity is a new global initiative by 1854 Media, publisher of the British Journal of Photography, in partnership with Magnum Photos.

Taking in the beauty of where I live, knowing that in all probability it will be my last autumn living in this area. Whilst sad to be leaving, I’m very excited to move onto pastures new, exploring equally beautiful, but visually very different
